Craigs appoints Arron Perriam as Director, Philanthropy and Intergenerational Wealth

Prominent philanthropy sector executive Arron Perriam is joining Craigs Investment Partners as Director, Philanthropy and Intergenerational Wealth.

Craigs’ Head of Private Wealth and Markets Jeremy Williamson says the appointment expands Craigs’ holistic approach to wealth management and its commitment to philanthropic impact.

“Arron’s appointment is a strategic step forward to grow our holistic wealth offering and extend our capability in areas that matter to our clients – legacy, values, and long-term philanthropic impact”
Head of Private Wealth and Markets

The newly created role sits inside Craigs’ Specialised Wealth Advisory Team (SWAT), which develops tailored investment solutions for some of New Zealand’s largest impact focused clients including community foundations, charitable trusts and Iwi.

“Arron will work closely with our SWAT team to deliver exceptional outcomes for our philanthropic clients. He will also work alongside our investment advisers to support and educate private wealth clients on all aspects of philanthropy and intergenerational wealth – helping them build clarity and confidence around these important conversations,” says Williamson.

Arron brings more than 30 years’ experience and deep connections with New Zealand’s charitable, philanthropic and commercial sectors. He holds several governance roles that contribute to social wellbeing including The Salvation Army of NZ, Fiji, Samoa and Tonga. He is currently National Executive Director at Community Foundations of Aotearoa NZ (CFANZ) – a role where he has developed a close relationship with, and understanding of, Craigs as the Foundation’s founding principal sponsor.

“I’m drawn to the fact that generosity and community have been at the heart of Craigs for over 40 years, it’s in their DNA and evident through their local partnerships across the country including community foundations, and generosity towards community, education, sport, arts and culture for example,” says Perriam, who sees the role as an opportunity to positively influence investor beliefs and actions through a transformational period.

“I’m convinced that structured giving in the form of personal endowment giving over the next 15 years is going to be the engine room of growth in generosity and stronger communities. We know that smart investors also give smarter, so during this unprecedented time of intergenerational wealth transfer, which reached $27 billion last year, the opportunity to work more closely with Craigs’ clients to support their philanthropic giving aspirations, is a privilege,” he says.

Arron takes up his new role on 25 August.
