Christchurch golfer Lyn Robertson wins Craigs’ “Road to the New Zealand Open” Pro-Am spot

Keen amateur golfer Lyn Robertson has won Craigs Investment Partners’ Road to the New Zealand Open competition, securing a coveted opportunity to play inside the ropes at New Zealand’s most prestigious golf tournament later this month.

Lyn earned her place in the draw after winning the longest drive competition at the Craigs Christchurch Annual Tournament, held in October at Russley Golf Club. Craigs’ Christchurch branch is a proud supporter of the club and sponsors a hole on the course as part of its long‑standing commitment to both local golf and the wider Canterbury community.

A strong amateur golfer with a 7.5 handicap, Lyn is the first woman to win the Craigs’ Road to the Open playing spot, with Craigs now in its third year as a major partner of the tournament. While the prize is drawn randomly from a pool of eligible entries from competitions held around the country over a year, Lyn’s selection is encouraging given Craigs’ wider commitment to women’s golf.

“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to play in the Pro Am. This will be an amazing experience and I’m grateful to Craigs for making this possible.”

In 2025, Craigs became an Official Partner of She Loves Golf, Golf New Zealand’s national initiative designed to encourage more women and girls to take up the sport. Craigs supported She Loves Golf activations at the New Zealand Open, presented by Millbrook Resort, and International Women’s Day, boosting visibility and participation.

Lyn’s win reflects the growing momentum behind women’s participation in golf nationwide and highlights Craigs’ ongoing role in creating opportunities for women to engage, connect, and succeed – on and off the course.

“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to play in the Pro Am. This will be an amazing experience and I’m grateful to Craigs for making this possible. My Caddie is quite excited too,” says Lyn.

Lyn will join the field for up to four rounds of tournament play, sharing the fairways with the professional players while they are competing for one of New Zealand’s most iconic sporting events, and the title of New Zealand Open Champion.

She will compete alongside former professional basketball player and New Zealand Open Ambassador Tom Abercrombie, who joined Craigs as an Investment Adviser in its North Shore branch last year.

The New Zealand Open takes place from 26 February to 1 March 2026.
