Golf raises more money for charitable causes than any other sport in New Zealand, making it a natural fit for our commitment to supporting the communities we serve. Held at Millbrook Resort in Queenstown, the New Zealand Open provides a national platform to connect with clients, celebrate the game of golf and create meaningful community impact through a range of initiatives that extend far beyond tournament week.

Craigs Birdies for Charity

One of the signature elements of our presence at New Zealand Open is Craigs Birdies for Charity, an initiative that transforms great golf into real community impact. For every birdie recorded by professionals and amateurs during the tournament, Craigs donates to a charitable fund supporting the New Zealand Open Charitable Trust and Cure Kids. Spectators can also contribute through public donations, helping to amplify fundraising outcomes and support important causes throughout New Zealand.

 

In 2026 Craigs was delighted to contribute $11,000 to CureKids, representing 50% of the funds raised through Craigs Birdies for Charity with the remaining funds supporting New Zealand Open Charitable Trusts charitable endeavours.

 

“This is such a fantastic way to add extra excitement to the tournament. Every birdie made not only helps the players in their quest for the New Zealand Open title but also drives real support for two incredible charities.” says New Zealand Open Chairman, John Hart.

Craigs Long Putt Challenge

The Craigs Long Putt Challenge gives New Zealand Open spectators the opportunity to test their skills while supporting an important local cause. In 2026 the activation was located within the tournament’s Tee Junction activation zone.

 

The challenge invited members of the public to take part by making a donation to the Lakes District Air Rescue Trust, with participants in the draw to winning daily prizes.

The activation reflects our broader Golf for Good philosophy, using the New Zealand Open as a platform to bring people together, create memorable experiences and support the communities connected to the tournament.

 

In 2026 The Craigs Long Putt Challenge raised $7,000 throughout the tournament which the New Zealand Open Charitable Trust topped up to $23,000 to meet their fundraising goal.
