Investor Basics Workshops

Learn about investing in one of our Investor Basics workshops, are held over one or two sessions (lunchtime or evenings). Each workshop is approximately 1 1/2 hours. The free workshops are small, interactive and have been designed to promote discussion. For this reason, numbers have been limited to 10-12 attendees per workshop series.

Our workshops will cover:

  • The fundamentals of investing – why, how and where to invest
  • Key investment principles – what you need to consider when you invest
  • How to build your own personal investment portfolio

We aim to provide you with enough information to help you establish your investment goals and develop a sound understanding of investing so you feel more confident when talking with your Investment Adviser about personal investment plan and investment decisions. In each workshop you will be provided with handouts to take home and read in your own time.

Our workshop will cover the fundamentals of investing - why, how and where to invest. It is designed to be interactive and promote discussion.

Our Investor Basics Workshops are designed to help those people interested in learning the fundamentals of investing. We aim to help you be more confident in setting goals, talking to your Investment Adviser and developing an investment portfolio.

Rohan joined Craigs IP in Dec 2009. He has over 15 years Financial Services experience working in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. Previous roles include working as a Branch Investment Specialist for ASB Investments as well as a Portfolio analyst for JP Morgan Sydney.  Rohan utilises his all-round advisory and management skills to partner with clients to build investment solutions and help achieve their goals

In his spare time he enjoys going to the beach with his family, playing golf and watching rugby and cricket.

Rohan holds the following qualifications:


  • Bachelor of Commerce, University of Stellenbosch (1998)
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Finance and Investments, FINSIA (2007)
  • NZX Diploma (2010)
  • Certificate of Authorisation AFA (2016)

He is a member of or accredited with the following organisations:

Tristan Hewett joined Craigs Investment Partners as an Investment Adviser in April 2017. Previously, he’d spent 9 years working for ANZ Bank (NZ) Ltd in various roles ranging from Rural Manager to Branch Manager. During that time, he handled all his client’s financial requirements.

Tristan advises clients on all aspects of equity investments, specializing in portfolio management for private clients, family trusts and Kiwisaver. Tristan was awarded ANZ CEO Recognition in 2012 and was Agri-Business Manager of the year 2011 and 2012. Tristan is currently a member of Tauranga Primary School Board of Trustees.

Tristan holds the following qualifications:

  • Certificate of Authorisation AFA (2017)
  • National Certificate in Financial Services (Financial Advice) (Level 5), Open Polytechnic (2017)
  • Bachelor of Applied Science (Natural Resource Economics & Soil Science), Massey University (1995)
