Client Portal access

To access the Client Portal for the first time, follow these steps:

  1. You will have been issued with a Client ID when you became a client, or received your Client ID in a recent letter or email.
  2. By clicking the set password link in the Client ID email, you will be taken to a screen to confirm your Client ID and Last Name.
  3. If you have a mobile phone number associated with your account, you can select whether to complete your validation by receiving a code via text message or a link via email.
  4. Once you have completed the validation steps, you can set a new password. Your password needs to be comprised of a minimum of 8 characters, containing at least 1 uppercase letter, 1 lowercase letter and 1 digit.
  5. You will then be redirected to the login page to enter your Client ID and password.

Please note - If you think you may have registered on the old Client Portal, or have forgotten your Client ID then visit the login page and click the Forgot Client ID? link and follow the prompts.

  1. Reset your password by clicking on the Forgot Password? link on the login page. 
  2. Enter your Client ID and Last Name to receive an identity validation message by email or text message.
  3. If you have a mobile phone number associated with your account, you can select whether to complete your validation by receiving

  1. Receive a Client ID reminder by clicking on the Forgot Client ID? link on the login page.
  2. Complete the form by entering your first name, last name and registered email address.
  3. You will then receive an email reminding you of your Client ID.

Minimum technical requirements

To ensure you have the best and most secure experience when using the Craigs client portal, we recommend you use the latest version of one of the supported browsers below:

Supported desktop web browsers

  • Microsoft® Internet Explorer® browser - version 11 or later
  • Google Chrome browser - version 74 or later
  • Apple Safari browser - version 11.0 or later

Supported browsers on mobile or tablet

  • iPad and iPhone - Safari 12.2 or later
  • Samsung Galaxy – Chrome 74 or later

We also recommend using an up to date operating system:

If you’re having problems, the most likely cause is your browser being out of date. Follow these steps to check:

To check which browser version you're using:

  • Open the browser and click either the 'Help link' or the 'settings icon' or 'safari link'.
  • Select the 'About' browser option (e.g. About Internet Explorer', 'About Google Chrome' or 'About Safari'.
  • You will see the version number.

How do I upgrade my web browser?

If you have checked your browser version and it isn’t one listed above, you can download the latest version for free.

My Portfolio Dashboard

Your personalised portfolio Dashboard provides an at a glance overview of your investment portfolio. It allows you to see the value of individual or combined portfolios and then drill down into asset classes. You can also view the Value Over Time and Contributions & Withdrawals of your selected portfolios.

View the value of your selected portfolios in the currency you have chosen at the top of the portal dashboard page. You can select different time frames, including from inception – which means the first activity on the portfolio

The contributions and withdrawals chart shows you any contributions and withdrawals in NZD for your selected portfolios during the chosen time frame, including from inception – which means the first activity on the portfolio.

Portfolio Summary

Each of your portfolios has a page of information and features specific to that portfolio, including your holdings. This is to give a quick overview, you can still access more detailed information in the Reports section.

KiwiSaver, Superannuation and savings portfolios have more detailed information than managed portfolios to help you monitor performance at a glance.

Holdings

This page shows all the holdings (funds, individual securities, bonds etc) within your individual portfolio.

You can filter your current holdings by asset class or sort on the details on each column.

Direct Debits

This page shows any existing direct debits. It is currently only available to KiwiSaver, Superannuation and savings portfolios.

If you need to amend your direct debits, contact your adviser.

Orders & Order History

These two pages are only available to KiwiSaver, Superannuation and savings portfolios.

Orders
This information shows security orders ready for trading. It does not display deposits, withdrawals and foreign currency exchanges. Orders can display different statuses:

  • Pending – This order is waiting to be authorised and released to trade.
  • Awaiting cash – This order needs cash to complete the order. This could mean there is not enough cash in the portfolio or a foreign exchange needs to be completed before buying a foreign security.
  • In progress – The order is in progress and will be completed once all stages are complete.
  • Change requested – A change to this order has been requested.
  • Cancel requested - A cancellation of this order has been requested.

Order history
This information shows completed security orders. It does not display deposits, withdrawals and foreign currency exchanges.

Investment Direction

Your Investment Direction tells us how to spend your contributions.

Only available to KiwiSaver, Superannuation and savings portfolios. Your investment direction is made up of the securities you chose for your contributions to be invested in each month if you are in a Scheme. The status if your investment direction is important:

  • Active – any cash in your portfolio is directed to your investment direction
  • Not set – you do not have an investment direction
  • Inactive – you had an investment direction, but requested to stop it for a period of time
  • Paused – you have some other buy orders that you would like the cash in your portfolio to be used for, instead of your investment direction.

To amend your investment direction, please contact your adviser.

How do I generate a web report?

  1. Click Reports in the main navigation bar
  2. Go to the Generate a Report tab
  3. Choose the portfolio that you would like to view a report on by selecting it from the Select your Portfolio dropdown list.
  4. The date of the previous day will be displayed in the Choose End Date field. If you would like to change this date type your chosen date in this box following the DD/MM/YY format or select the Calendar icon
  5. Select the Generate button.
  6. Your report will begin generating and will be displayed when it is ready, alternatively the report can also be found by selecting the All Reports tab on the Reports page.
  1. Click Reports in the main navigation bar
  2. Go to the All Reports tab where you can view the web reports that you have generated in the last 5 days and view all the reports distributed to you by Craigs in the last two years.

Please note:

  • Managed clients have access to a number of reports providing an overview of your portfolio position.
  • START clients can view their Holdings Statements, Contributions and Withdrawals Summary and a Portfolio Summary.

Your recent Contract Notes can be viewed by selecting the Contract Notes tab. Download your buy and sell contract notes that have been issued since late November 2016.

How do I check the performance of an index?

  1. Click Markets in the main navigation bar
  2. On the Indices tab you can quickly check the performance of the top indices or select a regional overview of Asia-Pacific, North America or Europe from the Select Index Category dropdown list.

Please note – Market data on other indices can be found by performing a Quote Search from the navigation. For step-by-step instructions see ‘How do I perform a Quote Search’ below.

  1. Click Markets in the main navigation bar
  2. On the World Currencies tab you can quickly check the performance of key New Zealand dollar (NZD) and US dollar (USD) currencies pairs.

Please note – Market data on other currency pairs can be found by performing a Quote Search from the navigation. For step-by-step instructions see ‘How do I perform a Quote Search’ below.

Quote Search allows you to search for market data on securities (shares and fixed interest), indices and currencies directly from the navigation bar.

  1. Begin to enter a search term in the Quote Search field, located in the navigation bar. 1
  2. You will see an automatically populated list of the available market data matches. 2
Select the security, index or currency to display and the market details will display or Show All Results to see a full list.

How do I search for a Research article?

  1. Click Research in the main navigation bar
  2. Begin to enter a search term in the Enter search keywords field and you will see an automatically populated list of the available research.
  3. You will then be taken to the Advanced Search page where your search can be refined by publication type, sector, date and keyword. Alternatively, you can enter another search term.
  4. The page will display details about the security including the Private Wealth Research View.
  5. Scroll down to see the list of returned Search Results.
  6. You can add these to your reading list or view as a pdf document.

If you select the Manage subscription button on the Research page you will be taken to the Manage my Subscriptions page.

In the Publications section, you can subscribe to our eNewsletters, product updates and publications or change your preferred method of communication. You can choose to unsubscribe to a publication at any time by selecting Unsubscribe from the dropdown list.

In the Follow Research section, you can choose to receive a daily email highlighting any research published that matches your chosen sector, report type or security/company of interest:

  • Choose a sector, report type or security/company of interest from the dropdown list and select the Add button.
  • If you would no longer like to follow this research, select the Remove icon.

By selecting the Reading List icon next to an item on the Research Homepage or in the Latest Research it will be added to your Reading List. Your Reading List can be found on the Research Homepage.

How do I update my contact details?

Your contact details can be updated by selecting My Profile > My Details. You may be prompted with further steps to complete your contact details update, e.g. you will need to provide us with a proof of address if you update your residential address.

You can change your password by selecting My Profile > Change Password. You will be required to enter your old password before entering a new password and confirming the new password.

What is the Watchlist?

The Watchlist allows you to create a list of securities you wish to track on an ongoing basis. Each time you visit, your Watchlist is updated and is ready to view at a glance. You can add and remove securities at any time.

  1. To add an item to your Watchlist type your request into the Enter search here field and select the Add button.
  2. You can reorder your Watchlist be selecting the up/ down arrow.
  3. An item can be removed from your Watchlist by selecting the Remove icon.

Market data for a security on your Watchlist can be easily viewed by selecting the Market Data icon.
